In 2008, DeLuca’s kick-started its first ever Combine Preparation program to Brevard County athletes. Training was solely dedicated to mastering the technical aspects of the football Combine tests. We were the first training facility of our kind to “expose” all the tips, tricks and techniques that enabled high school football players to set new standards in Combine performance.

Before DeLuca’s Combine Preparation program, most local athletes and coaches had no idea that there was such a technical component to each and every test. Athletes thought that simply practicing the 40-yard dash, vertical jump, broad jump, 20-yard shuttle, 3-Cone Drill and 185-pound bench press test would be enough to improve their performance; but nothing was further from the truth. In fact, practicing these events with poor technique was actually detrimental to their performance. This was because athletes ended up engraving improper motor patterns, over-stressing their central nervous system (CNS), and systemically fatiguing their musculoskeletal system to the point of no return leading up to the Combines.

After the first Combine Preparation Program, something interesting started to happen; football players throughout Brevard County started running faster 40’s, jumping higher verticals, and recording times on the agility tests that were once thought to be impossible. Local high school athletes were performing the 20-yard shuttle in NFL-caliber 3.9-seconds; 30-inch vertical jumps became the new standard; and sub 4.5-second 40-yard dashes were no longer uncommon. Much to our delight, football players started educating themselves on the technical aspects of the tests. It was no longer good enough to just train hard; in order to keep up with other football players around the country, athletes trained smart and became “students” of the Combine.

DeLuca’s Combine Preparation involves the strategic use of multi-joint strength & power training to promote speed and jumping ability (fast twitch) for the tests performed on Combine day (vertical jump, 40 yard dash, pro shuttle, 3-cone, long shuttle and position-specific drills). Preparation for the 185 lb. bench rep test is implemented using multiple training designs to promote upper body strength and endurance.

DeLuca’s Sports Performance has earned a reputation of excellence through its Combine Prep training.
